Let’s DEFINE our PATTERN : How is it done?
Note: Since it is a Shape Layer, you can’t define a pattern with it; therefore, what do you think we’ll going to do?
Step 8
That’s right! Create a new layer.
Step 9
Put the new layer below the Shape layer.
- Can you still follow? I hope you are, let’s proceed to the next step.
5. Select All the 2 layers, the Shape layer and the Layer 1, right click and select “MERGE LAYERS.”
Maybe you ask why are we merging.
- With the Shape layer alone, we can’t define a pattern that’s why we created another transparent layer that serves as the background of the Shape. On the other hand, you can’t create a pattern with just a transparent layer alone, that’s why we merge the two.
Step 11
This is what it looks like after MERGING.
Step 12
Now we have a single layer! Nicely done!
- We are getting there folks! Keep your fingers cross!
Now you have a shape, can we turn it to a PATTERN now?
HOW?
- If you have read the previous tutorials and tried the steps, you just encountered how to define a pattern! It’s all in just one MENU!
Step 13
6. Go to the EDIT MENU, look for “DEFINE A PATTERN”, and then click it!
Step 14
7. Define your Pattern now, for this tutorial, let’s name it as “Pattern 9.”
- Almost done, all you have to do now is to save your pattern. Do you still remember the steps in saving a brush or a custom shape? Brushes, custom shapes and patterns are being managed in “PRESET MANAGER”. I hope you still remember that.
