Create You Own Pattern : Pattern it here
Written by PHOTOBRUSHOP TEAM, 2009
Let’s learn how to make patterns! In all of these tutorials, I consider “patterns“as the most tricky. But let’s make it easy for you all. Like what I said previously in Custom Shapes tutorial, in every Photoshop session you have, always remember to have the 2P’s. I hope you remember the meaning of those two.
Prepare all the common tools needed in creating your brushes, custom shapes and patterns, that’s the most important step.
Let’s get this started, shall we?
- Open your Adobe Photoshop CS3.
Step 1
2. Create a new document with “TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND.”
Step 2
Note: Now we should indicate the WIDTH, HEIGHT and RESOLUTION, for this tutorial it is 100px x 100px with a RESOLUTION of 300 pixels/inch.
Step 3
- To make our pattern, we’ll use the help of custom shapes (it depends on you on how you will design your pattern; it can either be an IMAGE, DRAWING, SHAPES or your own art.)
Step 4
3. Select the Custom Shape tool on the toolbar.
Step 5
4. On the Option bar, click the drop-down arrow beside the Custom Shape tool. And we are going to select our desired shaped for our pattern making.
Step 6
- You can change the color of your liked custom shape. For that, I’ll choose orange since it’s the color of PHOTOBRUSHOP.
Step 7
There you go, we just created a shape!
